Accessing your MySQL Database Remotely

At times you may want to connect to a MySQL database that is running on our server from an external server while developing your website. This article explains how to do so.

For security reasons external access to MySQL is disabled, however you can override this feature by adding your external IP address to the relevant section of cPanel. You will need to ensure that the IP address you add is the same IP address that will be creating the connection to our server.

You will need to add the IP address in cPanel > Remote MySQL

If you’re not sure of your public (WAN) IP that you need to add to the list you can find it in the first line here: https://my.rochen.com/ip.php

You may also need to re-grant “All Privileges” to your database user after you have added the remote IP address in this section.

Please do not hesitate to open a technical support ticket if you have any questions or concerns about remote database access.
