Rochen recently introduced our new and innovative shared hosting platform – Premium Web Hosting. It is available in both our US and UK facilities. The new platform has been developed over many months and its architecture has been built with performance, security, and reliability in mind. It differs greatly from many traditional shared hosting offerings.

LiteSpeed
The new platform takes advantage of LiteSpeed Web Server Enterprise Edition instead of Apache. LiteSpeed is a high performance drop in replacement for Apache ensuring full compatibility and lightning speeds for popular applications like Joomla, WordPress and Drupal. SSDs
Furthermore, we have done away with traditional spinning drives and moved to a pure Solid State Drive (SSD) configuration. The servers are configured with a minimum of six SSDs in a RAID10 array as well as a hot-spare SSD. This provides great reliability and speed.
My Rochen Portal
To provide a more unified experience, more account management has been moved inside of the My Rochen Portal (the “central hub” for Rochen accounts where you can access support and more). The new platform allows customers to host an unlimited number of domains for one flat fee.
Each domain you setup through My Rochen gets its own individual cPanel which is ideal for those looking for reseller hosting but a great security advantage for any webmaster with multiple sites.
Each domain you host can be configured with a specific PHP version (5.3 through 5.6). So you could have one domain’s cPanel configured with PHP 5.3 and another with 5.5. Popular enhancement features for cPanel like our Joomla Utilities plugin are of course included.
Domains
Rochen has for the first time started offering domain registration services and registration of your primary account’s domain is included free of charge. At the moment we offer registration for: .com, .net, .org, .info, .biz, .co.uk and .org.uk. We will be expanding the extensions we offer registration for over the next few months. As always, you’re welcome to use a third-party registrar with our hosting services even if it is for an extension we don’t offer for registration ourselves.
“Burst”
A “burst resource level” has been introduced which allows for additional systems resources to be allocated (burst up to 1 vCPU and 2GB RAM) to an account under a shared plan for just $9.95 per month. This means that if you’ve got a site that needs a little extra horsepower but isn’t yet ready for its own server you don’t need to worry about service being impacted or your costs vastly increasing.
Flexible Terms
New billing terms have been introduced giving customers short term flexibility if they need it and rewarding those who commit to partnering with Rochen for the longer term. Month-to-month pricing is $13.95 (with a $13.95 one-time setup fee) and can be cancelled at anytime. Pricing with a three year term drops as low as $7.95 per month (36 months paid at checkout and no setup fee). One and two year terms are available as well. We have tried to make our pricing transparent avoiding gimmicks like renewal at higher rates.
Checkout
Ordering with Rochen is now much more streamlined. The checkout process has been reduced from six separate pages down to a single page. Further, we now not only offer instant activation but the ability to install Joomla, Drupal or WordPress at the time of ordering. For example, your Drupal site can be up and running on its own domain name and Drupal already installed within minutes.
In addition, we have upgraded our Managed Cloud Server (MCS) platform including rolling it out in the UK. There are still further improvements to come over the next month including a major user interface upgrade for the My Rochen Portal. We will cover these topics in a later blog.
