Some customers would like to develop a website on a temporary URL of their own, and then once ready, change the domain to the “real” URL and go live. This article will explain how a user can do this.<\/p>\n
The procedure is actually quite simple:<\/p>\n
First, you’d need to make sure that you provision the account using the correct domain name (the future live domain) via your MyRochen portal or WHM depending on your service package. You’d then just\u00a0park\u00a0your temporary dev domain name (or a subdomain of any of your other domains under your account) on top of it. This can be done using the “Domains” -> “Aliases” page in cPanel.<\/p>\n
Second, if you’re hosting mail externally for that domain just set the mail routing (via the MX Entry page in cPanel) to ‘remote’ (you can do that when provisioning the account), but leave the MX records pointing back to your Rochen account (the default settings) if you’ll later be hosting the mail at Rochen. You can then change the mail routing back to ‘local’ or ‘auto’ when you point the live domain over to your Rochen account. You can then also remove the temporary parked domain that you used for development services.<\/p>\n
