Occasionally when configuring a script you will be asked to specify the physical path to the web root or home directory area of your account. A few common paths are outlined below.<\/p>\n

Home Root<\/h3>\n

The path to your home root directory, which is not directly accessible via HTTP, is:\u00a0\/home\/username\u00a0where “username” is the username of your account. If your username was “roc” then the path to your home root would be: \/home\/roc<\/p>\n

\nWeb Root<\/h3>\n

The path to your web root directory, which is directly accessible via HTTP, is:\u00a0\/home\/username\/public_html\u00a0where “username” is the username of your account. If your domain name was “rochenhost.com” and your username was “roc” when visiting\u00a0http:\/\/rochenhost.com\u00a0then this would load files located at: \/home\/roc\/public_html. The public_html folder is where you need to upload your website files.<\/p>\n

Sub Domain Web Root<\/h3>\n

The path to a sub domain web root directory, which is directly accessible via HTTP, is typically:\u00a0\/home\/username\/public_html\/subdomain\u00a0where “username” is the username of your account and “subdomain” is the name of the sub domain itself. If your domain name was “rochenhost.com”, your username was “roc” and you had setup a sub domain called “testing” when visiting\u00a0http:\/\/testing.rochenhost.com\u00a0then this would load files located at: \/home\/roc\/public_html\/testing.<\/p>\n \t\t
