2016 was another fantastic year here at Rochen.
Our Premium Web Hosting (PWH) shared hosting solution continues to be a great option for Rochen clients.
Based on the successful formula we launched in 2015, we added a new option: Premium Web Hosting “One Site”. One Site has made it possible for people with only one website to benefit from the Premium Web Hosting features at an even more affordable and competitive price tailored for single site usage.
A new feature added to both of our Premium Web Hosting options is our support of Let’s Encrypt SSL. This development makes it possible to enable HTTPS for any website hosted on Rochen’s PWH environment without having to purchase an SSL certificate. Combined with Server Name Indication (SNI) – the ability to have SSL with out a dedicated IP – we’ve made it possible to have SSL secured websites without any additional cost to the customer.
We also added support of PHP 7.0, and most recently PHP 7.1, to our list of existing available PHP options to choose from for individual cPanel accounts on our Premium Web Hosting plans. Let’s Encrypt SSL, and the ability to choose between PHP versions, are also options that we are happy to make available on our dedicated Managed Cloud Server solutions, upon individual request.
The Rochen team did some traveling this year and met up with new and old friends and clients at various events. We attended five different WordPress events in the United States including WordCamps in San Diego, Orange County, Boston, and Pheonix, as well as a visit to a WordCamp in Lehigh Valley, PA. In October, two of our long time support staff members also attended WordCamp Nashik in India.
On the Joomla front we were able to sponsor JoomlaDays around the globe, as well as the annual JandBeyond developer’s conference. We were also happy to provide the liquid refreshments for a small team of dedicated developers doing a Joomla code sprint in Manchester, UK this past May. In November, we had a great time attending the Joomla World Conference in Vancouver, Canada, as the Diamond and Hosting sponsor.
